Run W3C Validation

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web. Among the free services that they offer is validation of Websites for conformation to W3C coding standards.  Use this procedure to verify that your Website is W3C-compliant. Doing so has the following benefits:
  • Increases the likelihood that your site will display correctly in all supported browsers
  • Prevents search engines from lowering your rank in their search results due to validation errors

To run W3C validation

  1. In a Web browser, enter http://validator.w3.org.
  2. On the page that is displayed, enter the URL (Web address) of your home page.
  3. Click Check.
  4. Troubleshoot and correct any errors reported.
